Robbie Wins Commissaire’s Award at ‘The Wall’

By 10 October 2016 News

Manly-Warringah held the second edition of “The Wall” yesterday, their 110km handicap race at West Head. The pace was on in all groups right from the start, with Scratch eventually sweeping all before them and taking out the win.

However, our own Robbie Matthews took out the Commissaire’s Award in his first ever handicap race, earning himself a nice pay day!

Manly’s Alexis Kaless: “When I looked at the field and all the riders out on course, I couldn’t find a more deserving winner. We sort of expect the rides we see from the Elite riders, but young Robbie really stepped it up today. He was in the group that was the last one caught by scratch. A handicap race isn’t a race you can just sit in and hide and for him to roll 4 laps was the sort of ride that was deserving of his prize.”

Congrats Robbie!
