By 4 December 2017 Racing

L’Étape Australia has once again played host to a dominant display by SUVelo riders. Gina Ricardo and Jesse Coyle have each won line honours and the right to wear the yellow jersey.

Gina Ricardo and Chris Froome

Gina improved on her 3rd place overall last year with a time of 3:01:45, and repeated her 4th place in the QOM contest.

Jesse, 5th last year, took line honours this year with an official time of 2:48:17. He also claimed top spot in the KOM challenge.

Both had the pleasure of receiving the yellow jersey from Tour de France champion Chris Froome.

Gina and Jesse were far from the only SUVelo members to show the club’s strength however. The top end of the leaderboard had a healthy compliment of SUVelo riders:

  • Aaron Bicknell, 2nd overall
  • Chris Miller, 8th overall
  • Jesse Morley, 16th overall
  • Ben Wray, 24th overall
  • Robert Matthews, 25th overall

Congratulations to Gina and Jesse and all our riders for their incredible performances. For more on the event be sure to check out SBS Cycling Central’s fantastic video highlights package from the day. Quite a few SUVelo members make cameo appearances!
