Our special guests

The dinner will be emceed by the voice of Australian cycling Mike Tomalaris. Mike is one of the longest serving members of SBS’ sports team, and a tireless advocate and supporter of Australian cycling. He has served as SUVelo’s Club Patron since its formation in 2010.

This year Mike will be joined by Australian cycling commentator Matthew Keenan.

Matthew Keenan’s early foray into commentary began after two seasons of amateur racing in Europe. After returning to Australia, he started commentating local races in Melbourne. His first TV commentator role came in 2003 and in 2006 Matthew was hired as lead cycling commentator for the Melbourne Commonwealth Games.

When Phil Liggett and Paul Sherwin told the ASO they weren’t available for the 2007 Tour of Qatar they recommended Matthew. He took the role and from there his career exploded.

Matthew has covered every major race on the cycling calendar. He’s been a regular member of SBS’ team covering the Tour de France, and for the first time this year led the global English commentary team alongside Robbie McEwen.

Mike will interview Matthew and you’ll be able to ask them anything about their careers through the world of cycling. You will also have a chance to chat with our guests before and after the meal.
